A Lady with Honest & Sacrifice Nature

We were waiting for ‘Shri Premanand Ji Maharaj’ by the roadside. It was nearly 11 PM, and I stood there, hands clasped behind my back, much like how we stand at ease after the command ‘Vishram’.

Here’s the main part: A little girl, about 9 or 10 years old, showed remarkable courage by selling plastic carpets for around 10 or 20 rupees each in the middle of the night, unaccompanied and fearless.

My respected senior, Jangra Sir, approached her to buy a carpet for something to sit on while we waited for such a long time.

As I observed her, I noticed she was quite talkative but smart, and most importantly, very logical in her speech, which piqued my interest to strike up a conversation with this little sister.

So, I began to engage her in conversation.

She belonged to a very poor family, and the courageous thing was her selling something in the dead of night without anyone’s support. When I mentioned ‘logical’, I meant truly logical because the product she was selling was exactly what people needed at that time—a carpet. It was temporary but very useful since there was nothing to sit on but the road while everyone waited to meet.

I started asking her some questions. The first was about her name, and she gave a lovely answer, ‘Komal’.

Then I asked about her schooling, to which she gave a standard reply that I honestly can’t remember!

In our final discussion, I asked her,

“If I give you 500 INR, what would you do with that money?”

She replied in a selfless manner, saying, “I would give those 500 Rupees to someone who needs it more.”

I was utterly shocked. I mean, this question struck my soul—what?

At her age, how can someone possess such a mentality?

I was surprised and asked her, “Honestly sister?” and added, “Why?” I continued, “Don’t you need that money?”

She smiled and replied, “Yes brother, I don’t need this money as I already have enough. If I am in need, then I will earn it!”

This wonderful answer not only illustrates an admirable human attitude towards money but also showcases a mature mindset at such an early age.

Yes, she was a girl because of her age, but she is a lady with a clever mind and a purposeful outlook!

This signifies that to earn money one should not take a shortcut but go through the hardships so the small sister said.
